Brush manufacturers often use weasel. But Ludovik only works with sable bristle. Sable and weasel hair are so much alike, that it is hard for a non-expert to set them apart. Able hair is a little thinner and more elastic, so that a sable brush will always have more hairs and be more dense than an identical weasel brush. As a result, it will pick up a larger amount of colour and make application softer. Sable is the most durable bristle under the impact of cosmetic products.
