Caring for make-up brushes 2017-04-04
With proper care, a set of make-up brushes will serve you dozens of years. Care procedures include proper storage (in a folding bag with individual compartment for each brush or in a pencil pot) and regular cleaning.
Special products for cleaning and care for make-up brushes are available. The commercial products are convenient and practical, as they require minimal effort and time cost – you only have to apply them to a tissue and wipe the brush. If possible, these cleaning agents are recommended.
Moreover, we recommend that you wash your brushes with shampoo once week (you can do it less frequently, but it is undesirable that you do it more often) Children shampoo is good for this.
During use, the bristle of lipstick and concealer brushes glues together and covers with dust. Such brushes may be washed quite often. Do not dilute the shampoo strongly. To wash the brush, pour some shampoo into your hand, wet the brush a little and rotate it in your palm until all hairs are covered with foam. Rinse the brush. Do not fully immerse it in water, as the bristle is attached with glue that is rarely waterproof. Squeeze out the excess water with a clean tissue and shake the brush to restore its form. For drying, position the brush so that its hair will not touch any surface. In such case, the brush will not lose its form.
Shadows and powder brushes require a more careful treatment. To wash tem, dilute some shampoo in warm water and rinse the bristle carefully. Do not touch the bristle with your hands. After rinsing the brush in warm water, use a piece of cloth to absorb the moisture. Do not dislocate the bristle or use any effort to dry the brush. Restore the original drop-like form of the brush, place it horizontally on the edge of a table, support etc. so that the bristle will not touch the surface. Do not touch the bristle until it is fully dry. Complete drying usually takes 7-9 hours at room temperature.
Do not dry brushes in a vertical position! The moisture may destroy the glue that retains the bristle!
If you follow this simple rules and treat your bristle carefully, the brushes will stay workable for many years.
